Dental Implants

If you are looking for an alternative to dentures and bridges that provides permanent replacement of missing teeth, dental implants may be the answer. Dental implants can significantly enhance the function of your teeth and the appearance of your smile. Unlike dentures, implants offer more stability and support for your teeth, while also being virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth. They do not move along your gums and can also improve your ability to speak and chew. Our experienced cosmetic dentist, Dr. Edward Romano, will discuss the most effective dental implant treatment options with you during your initial consultation to achieve life-changing results.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants offer a number of benefits for patients seeking to permanently replace missing or damaged teeth. Advantages of dental implants include:

  • Do not slip or move inside the mouth
  • No daily maintenance required other than brushing and flossing
  • Mimic natural teeth
  • Improved ability to speak, chew and bite
  • Enhanced appearance of smile

Dental Implants Procedure

Dr. Romano will begin with an oral examination to determine your candidacy for the procedure. The dental implant procedure is completed within a three stage process: implant insertion, osteo-integration, and attachment of the crown.

During the first stage, our dentist will place the implants in the appropriate positions. The implants are composed of titanium rods that are placed directly under the gum and anchored to the jawbone. After the implants are securely placed, they will go through a fusion process to become a permanent part of your mouth. This process, also known as osteo-integration, takes a few months to complete. During this time, we will place a temporary crown over the implant. Once the implants have completely attached to the jawbone, they will be ready for permanent, custom-designed dental crowns. These crowns are the finishing touch to your dental implants and will be color-tinted to match the color of your surrounding teeth for a natural-looking appearance and a complete smile makeover.
